South Texas Underground Film (STUF) is proud to announce two panels that will take place:

 

Film Screening and Director Panel  11:00am

'Redemption: Between the Lines' with Marie J. Magdaleno

 

 

 

"Redemption: Between the Lines" is a prison documentary that explores a jail facility in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. This documentary provides an inside glimpse of the facility that is near the border between Mexico and The United States of America.

 

 

 

 

 

Marie is an independent filmmaker from Brownsville, Texas. At the age of 17, she started to attend film workshops in Texas while pursuing her Bachelor's of Art in Communications. Marie graduated from the University of Texas- Brownsville and soon after, Marie landed her first big budget film as a wardrobe production assistant on the set of, "A Night in Old Mexico," which starred Robert Duvall and Jeremy Irvine. After that movie, she started doing shorts and eventually co-wrote a film, "Fearless Fight," with her mother in which Marie also directed. After the completion of "Fearless Fight", her first independent film, she landed another role as Property Master for the movie, "Endgame," starring Rico Rodriguez, Valente Rodriguez and Efran Ramirez. Marie has a passion for filmmaking and hopes to become better in every aspect of the industry.

'Get the Hell Out' with Comedia A Go-Go (Regan Arevalos, Jess Castro & Larry Garza)

 

 

 

 

 

 

A dark comedy following a group of cunning men who travel around the country performing exorcisms for money on behalf of any religion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since 2002, Comedia A Go-Go key members Regan Arevalos, Jess Castro and Larry Garza have written, produced, directed and performed hundreds of live and video comedic sketches. After years of sharpening their skills, they entered the arena of film making to much success. After having numerous shorts and the feature length film, "Blood Cousins", showcased in various film festivals, Comedia A Go-Go continue to hone their craft with their latest horror-comedy short, "Get the Hell Out".

 

All venues at MSFF 2016 will be on Del Mar College's East Campus. The White Library's 5th Room 530 will host the daytime screenings and panels of the festival. In the evening the festival's final screenings will take place in the Fine Arts Building in the Film Theatre.

 

The Film Theatre was designed to host the Drama Program's Development of Motion Picture classes. With three to four course sections offered each semester, they are among the most popular non-production-based Drama classes. This space has a surround-sound system with THX-certified speakers and HD 1080pi digital video projection with Blu-Ray.
