South Texas Underground Film is pleased to announce a few more Shorts Films selected to screen at the 2015 STUFF Film Festival taking place this November 30 - December 6, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

 

 ‘Bastard’ – Directed by Ryen McPherson – USA/14:26 mins

 

Fanatical religion and family are mixed and severely disrupted when a young man's father uses his unwavering faith to control his own household and the fate of a small child living in it.

 

 ‘Nightmare On Ecstasy’ – Directed by Jared Stults – USA/1:24 mins

 

What a nightmare might look like under the influence of psychedelics.

 

 ‘Dead Saturday’ – Directed by Benjamin Stark – USA/9:00 mins

 

Jimmy is convinced he's found a way to release his inner demons without going against the will of God: Dead Saturday, the time between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, when Jesus is “dead” and our sins are overlooked. But when he confronts Pastor Malcolm, the man who unknowingly inspired the idea, the conversation gets heated. Features Eric Roberts, Kurt Krause and Caroline Hebert.

 ‘The Sons of Mapes’ – Directed by Aaron Hose – USA/14:20 mins

In The Sons of Mapes, the filmmaker creates an intimate portrait of his Afro-Caribbean father, following his youth on the island of Curaçao and rise to international success as a professional tennis player in the 1960s and 70s. The film also chronicles his father's 40-year reunion with his all-Latin American collegiate tennis team and their 86 year-old coach from Texas. This is a story about love, faith, perseverance, and the unbreakable bonds between family and old friends.

 ‘The Silence of Our Friends’ – Directed by Iile Lempiäinen – Finland/9:58 mins

 

Elise is on her way to a school parent-teacher night. Her daughter's been involved in a bullying incident. Elise arrives late to find that the others have already gotten started. To everyone's surprise, the teacher has found an unusual way to convey the children's situation.

A film about striking balances in our lives. Alex does not like the idea of giving up her image for the sake of her Mother's wedding day and would rather be competing for a green belt in her Karate tournament. After having an argument with her Mother on the morning of the wedding, Alex is left standing on her front steps with the difficult decision whether to stay or go.
