Announcement 009

South Texas Underground Film is pleased to announce a few more Animation Shorts Films selected to screen at the 2015 STUFF Film Festival taking place this November 30 - December 6, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

‘Dont Do This To Me Now’ – Directed by Jack Fitzgerald – Netherlands/8:37 mins

Satirical ‘newscast’ full of verbal and visual puns in which a maladjusted character tries to understand himself and the world. This leads to a series of sketches ridiculing phenomena of our modern society in encounters and occurrences with a twist. An animation at daggers drawn in very sober lines.

‘The Little Match Girl’ – Directed by Kyoko Yamashita – Brazil/9:13 mins

She is just a child who struggles to survive in the concrete jungle. She was born unwanted, survives in the infamous way and she will die rejected being the way she is. Indigent, dirty and uneducated.
In refuge of the imaginary, she finally finds comforting end.

‘The Animals’ – Directed by Mark Wee – Singapore/6:18 mins

Influenced by the German Expressionist movement of the early 1900s and films by Lotte Reiniger. Adapted from the life of Joseph Merrick, the historically famed Elephant Man who walked the streets of Victorian England, exhibiting himself in freak shows, abused and despised by society for his horrific appearance. Merrick is at his wit’s end when things take a serendipitous turn.

‘Rock is Not an Attitude’ – Directed by Xiaoxiao Tang – USA/5:09 mins

A stop-motion rock band talks about life before their band: Rock is not only an attitude. Our lives are a reflection of our attitudes: just like music, we are all different and unique, but there is no distance between us.

‘Squeak!’ – Directed by Hannah Brown – UK/1:40 mins

A sleepy cat is awoken by her playful puppy pal, and she seeks revenge for her disrupted nap.

‘Route 52’ – Directed by Jacinth Tan Yi Ting/Tok Xue Yi – Singapore/5:55 mins

What happens when the journey of a whacky teen crosses paths with a tired hotdog tender ending his shift? Catch the crazy encounter of the unlikely pair and brace for the unexpected!

‘MTL Rush’ – Directed by Mathieu Guimond – Canada/2:26 mins

An experimental essay on colors and movement, scratched and painted on 35mm during the winter of 2014. Inspired by the great Len Lye.

‘Burokku’ – Directed by Riley Hill – USA/5:55 mins

Mesmerization. Obsession. Isolation.

‘Oneiria’ – Directed by Jeroen Cluckers – Belgium/3:52 mins

Document 01537
Digital VHS card

Distorted memories from an
imaginative zone known as “Oneiria”.

‘Deep Dance’ – Directed by Marco Erbrich – Germany/6:11 mins

A world without light, a world dominated by darkness and threatening silence. The deep sea. Driven by their instincts, we pursue two contradictory characters and witness a struggle for life and death. We become victims of the illusion of light.

‘MiMO’ – Directed by Chang Pei Yee/Oon Qian Yi Shannon – Singapore/1:43 mins

MiMO is a 2D traditional animation created with black ink and color pastels. Inspired by Joan Miro paintings of lines and colors, MiMO is an abstract piece that explores the art of motion.
